2009 is the year of the Ox, a Chinese Zodiac symbol that represents prosperity through fortitude and hard work. I think that says it for Polis and by all signs it looks like a good year. Was not Obama spotted carrying a book of poems by Derek Walcott! There is something in the wind and Ninety-nine years after his birth Charles Olson is being discovered by a new audience of Americans.

The big news this spring is Polis is This will be offered to every PBS station via satellite. To date Boston, NYC, San Francisco as well as 40 other stations from Honolulu will air Polis is This during National Poetry Month. Folks who have seen the film bear out our sentiment that Polis speaks to a national audience. Ken Riaf commented about POV programmers and Independent Lens folks characterizing Polis as "regional." He said, "They were right it is regional. It's playing in every region in the country." By airtime in April we hope to have 75 stations committed to broadcast Polis.
